Foster Homes Needed in the Oak Ridge area!!!!
We are always in need of foster homes for dogs and cats. All animals must live indoors; fenced
yards are preferred for dogs, but not always required for the smaller dogs.
Please call (865)483-8146 if you live in or near Oak Ridge and would be willing to foster.
Adoptable pets on view at Belk's
on Senior Days in the Oak Ridge Mall; upcoming dates are Tuesdays, September 7 and October 5.
Look for us inside the store, near the rear entrance off of Tulane Avenue, next to Sears.
Pet Showing at Petsmart
SARG shows animals at the Petsmart store at Turkey Creek the second Friday of each month,
4 - 8 p.m. Upcoming dates are Fridays, September 10 and October 8.
Please let us know if you can volunteer to help with the PetSmart showings.
Dog Washes are being held monthly. The next dog wash
will be Saturday, September 18, at the Oak Ridge
Animal Shelter parking lot, at the corner of Warehouse and Belgrade Roads in Oak Ridge. Because the shelter
is now open on Saturday mornings from 11 a.m., we have changed the hours for the dog washes; they will be from
8 a.m. to 11 a.m. this season. We expect to have the final dog wash of the season at Pet Supplies Plus on Illinois
Avenue, Oak Ridge, next to Big Lots, on October 16. This dog wash will begin later in the morning; details to be
announced later. We are in urgent need of able-bodied volunteers to help
wash and dry dogs. Price information is available here (PDF, 34k).
SARG Fall Garage Sale
Friday, September 24, from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturday, September 25, 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
The sale will again be at 419 Valley Drive in Oliver Springs. There will be signs along the route
to the sale, beginning at Anderson’s Hilltop Market on N. Illinois Avenue. We would appreciate your
donations for the sale at this time, as we will be working on pricing and organizing the sale items
over the next few weeks. Please call (865)483-8146 (between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.) by Tuesday, September 21,
if you have items to donate for the sale. Volunteers are urgently needed during the week of September
20 to help set up and put items out for the sale, and to be present on the two days of the sale and help with cleanup
and disposal of leftovers afterward.

Pet Fest and Blessing at
Grace Lutheran
Church, 131 W. Gettysburg Avenue, Oak Ridge, Saturday, October 2nd, 1 to 5 p.m.,
with the blessing at 3 p.m. This is an outdoor festival, with many activities, vendors,
and several rescue groups participating. SARG will have a booth and some adoptable animals on hand.
Dog Walk at
the Oak Ridge Marina Saturday, October 9th. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m., and the walk
begins at 10:00. This is a new event that we hope will be held annually. It is a fundraiser, with an
emphasis on "fun." SARG is sponsoring the dog walk in conjunction with the Young Professionals of
Oak Ridge. Proceeds will go toward improving the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter facility. There will be
door prizes, as well as prizes for various categories (owner/dog look-alikes, smallest dog, etc.).
Register your furry friend for the walk for $5 and join in the fun. We will be doing pre-registrations
in advance of the event, as well as on the same day.
