About SARG
Giving Animals A Second Chance At Life
Founded in 1996, Shelter Animals Rescue Group (SARG) is a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Our mission is to give dogs and cats from the Oak Ridge area a second chance at life by placing them in loving, responsible homes. As a community-driven group, we strive to reduce the population of unwanted animals thought spaying and neutering, and work tirelessly to ensure every pet in our care finds a forever home.
We are a 100% volunteer-run organization, meaning our efforts are powered by the compassion of people who want to make a difference. Rather than operating a traditional shelter, SARG houses animals in private foster homes, where they receive individual care and attention until they are ready for adoption. This unique approach ensures that we can understand each animal’s personality, needs, and behavior, allowing us to find the perfect match with prospective adopters.
In addition to our adoption services, SARG is deeply involved in local animal welfare efforts. We work with shelters and community partners to provide food, pet supplies, and education to help improve the lives of pets and their families. While our adoption process may take time, we are committed to making sure that each of our animals goes to a safe, secure, and loving home.
For nearly three decades, we have been a beacon of hope for animals in need, and we invite you to join us in our mission. Whether through fostering, adopting, donating, or volunteering, your support makes a life-changing difference.
Our Process
To ensure the best match for our animals, our adoption process involves several steps, including a comprehensive application review, veterinarian check, phone interview, and home visit. We believe that each animal deserves a permanent home, and our rigorous process helps to ensure that the transition is smooth and successful for both the pet and the family.
