Goldie

Lap cat alert! Goldie is this four-year-old, beautiful cat's name, since she is a rare example of a female orange kitty, and most orange cats are male. Goldie is super affectionate with humans, but because she is scared of the foster family's dog and even a little intimidated by their cat, she would probably do best as an only cat in a quiet home. Goldie is totally litter-box trained, and if you are looking for a lap cat, she is the cat for you! Just check out those striking green eyes and gorgeous orange coat, the perfect complementary color combination on the color wheel. For more information on this fetching feline, contact SARG, and help find this sweet cat her furever home.

Reese’s Pieces

With my thick, soft fur and round little face, everyone loves me. I am a 4-month-old little boy who is ready for his forever family to play with. I get along great with other kitties and love to play with them too. My foster mom plays with those string toys with me, and I love to leap and twist in the air to grab them mid-flight! Mom tries to catch me on video, but I’m quick. I think she did some slow motion of me leaping in the air. At night I am always found on my foster mom’s lap, curled up or stretched out while she watches TV, both of us unwinding from a day filled with fun, food, treats and naps. Well, I take the naps; my mom doesn’t seem to get any naps. I will never understand a day without naps. What’s with that? Maybe you have the perfect home for me? I might be a little shy at first, but give me a treat or a string toy and we will be best friends forever.

Hiccup

Hiccup's foster mom says "Hiccup is an orange tabby, about 5 months old as of late October, with a love of playing and cuddling. He is a people cat, always wanting love and affection and quick to show you how happy he is with his loud purr while you are holding him. He makes me laugh every day with his antics. Always doing something funny - leaping in the air to grab the string toy, climbing in the washer when I’m loading the laundry, or rubbing against me when I’m doing yoga. Wherever I am and whatever I’m doing, Hiccup is right next to me. When I’m in my home office, Hiccup has his own bed on the desk. He is the perfect companion and a great Yoga Kitty! Hiccup loves treats! All kinds of treats. He likes the hard ones and the push-up churro type. He will jump through hoops for treats. At the end of the day, he is ready to curl up in your lap while you watch TV. Maybe you have the perfect lap for my little Hiccup."

Root Beer

Observant, sensitive, and playful! These words best describe Root Beer. He is also a friendly cat, after he gets to know and trust you. Root Beer is ready and waiting for his forever home. He is an adolescent, neutered, root-beer-colored tabby with flashy white markings. He is slim, agile, and likes to chase and catch toys. His best friend is his brother, Oliver, but he also is friendly with an older male cat and a big white rabbit. His litter box habits are perfect. Root Beer came into rescue as a kitten because his first owner didn’t want him and suggested shooting him! He had fleas and ear mites and was certainly not the healthy, beautiful, young cat he is now. Please call to meet him! It’s not required, but he would love to be adopted with his brother, Oliver. They play together beautifully and would provide their forever family with twice the fun.

Here’s a video of Root Beer and his brother Oliver.

Oliver

If you sit down, Oliver will be in your lap! He is a very friendly, adolescent tabby with snowy white markings. He is neutered, and uses his litter box perfectly. When he’s not in a lap, he likes to chase and catch toys. His best friend is his brother, Root Beer, but he is also friendly with an older male cat and a large white rabbit, who thinks she is a cat too. Oliver has a quiet, friendly confidence about him and is always interested in what the human is doing. Although it is not required, he would love to be adopted with his brother, Root Beer. It would be a BIG blessing for them both and twice the fun for their forever family.

Here’s a video of Oliver and his brother Root Beer.

Arya

Arya is still very young. The vets estimated that she's probably around 8 or 9 months. She was abandoned by her previous owners in a secluded wooded area either while she was pregnant or after she had her 6 babies. A kind construction worker ran across her and her 2-week-old babies while he was at his work site. He refused to leave them out there to die in the 90+ temperatures, so he put them in a crate and had them in a Waffle House, trying to find a home for them. A friend of their foster mom took them and brought them to her. Arya has been so sweet and has never swatted at us or even hissed when we picked up her babies. She's been an excellent mommy and was always so attentive when one of her babies cried. She loves to play and cuddle. She really enjoys feather toys! She has had a rough start in life and so deserves to have a loving family.

A Cheesy Little Family

We have a mom and 3 kittens who share their foster home with Victoria, their kitty-loving doggy foster sister. Mama is Brie Clarson, who has two daughters: Havarti Patel and Gouda, and one son, Morticai Stilton. The kittens were born around the first week or two of February, 2024, so they are about 13-14 weeks old as of May 7.

Brie Clarson

We estimate Brie to be less than a year old. She's a beautiful kitty and very sweet and loving. She likes to follow her foster family around the house. She likes Victoria and will cuddle with her from time to time. She's very playful and loves to chase her kittens around the house and play with them.

Gouda — ADOPTED!

Gouda's favorite thing is to do zoomies and chase her Momma around the house (or be chased). She is all about playing and is always on the go.

Havarti Patel - ADOPTED!

Havarti Patel is the adventurous one who is always first to explore. Her coloring is gorgeous—she's a dilute tortoiseshell. She loves to cuddle and get attention.

Morticai Stilton

Morticai does especially well with Victoria, the dog. He loves to run and play then crash in your lap when he's he's done. He's the only male of the litter.

Walker

Cat Ballou here reporting for The SARG Times. I’m interviewing Walker, a very special SARG kitty

Cat: Walker, tell us about yourself.

Walker: I’m an orange tabby, bobtail boy, and I’ve probably got a Manx cat for an ancestor somewhere. I’m the perfect weight for my big bones, topping the scale at 16 pounds. When I went in for my vaccines, the vet tech wanted to know if I was a cat or a mountain lion. I’m shy, but once we are friends, I want all the pets!

Cat: What is your career aspiration?

Walker: I’ve always wanted to be a Texas Ranger. Can’t you just see me with a white cowboy hat on my head?

Cat: What is your favorite quote?

Walker: A true friend is a friend for life.

Cat: Do you have any hobbies?

Walker: I love taking naps, and then watching the birbs and skwerls from the screen porch at my foster home. They are so sassy, because they know I can’t get out!

Cat: Would you consider yourself a lap cat?

Walker: I’m a polite, gentleman cat who doesn’t require a lap. I love to be beside you, and if you stretch out on a recliner or a sofa, I love to lay across your legs.

Cat: Any final words?

Walker: Are you looking for a handsome, 2-year-old fella? That’s me. Give me a chance, and I’m sure you’ll be my favorite person, and I’ll be your favorite cat.

Adoption News!

Toothless - APPLICATIONS CLOSED

Toothless is one of the sweetest, most easy-going kittens his foster mom has ever fostered. He is approximately 5 months old (Nov. 1st 2024) and way bigger than his age would imply, weighing in at about 7 pounds. Toothless is a Maine coon mix, with his big eyes and beautiful long fur. He is going to be one big kitty. He has a fluffy tail that he loves to wag back and forth in big swaths, rubbing on people and other kitties.

Toothless was given this name because of his resemblance to the Dragon in “How to Train Your Dragon,” as well as because he had some dental problems that have been taken care of by the wonderful team at UT Veterinary Hospital. Toothless actually had a couple extra teeth and one tooth that stuck out at a weird angle, giving a snaggle-tooth appearance. Those teeth have been removed, and he has recovered well.

Toothless is a snuggler and loves to be held. Each night after dinner, he wants to sit down and cuddle on the couch while his foster mom watches TV. When you pick him up, he is like a noodle, going limp in your hands, and he starts purring right away. When it’s time for bed, he is a great sleeper, sometimes sleeping at the end of the bed, and sometimes curling up on your chest--all the while purring. Maybe you have the perfect lap for Toothless to curl up in?

Amber - ADOPTION PENDING!

Amber is an orange-and-white tabby kitten who is a ball of energy. He’s not intimidated at all by the seventeen-pound male, ginger cat, Walker, another SARG foster. Poor Walker doesn’t know what to think about this little guy, who is forever sneaking up on him and pouncing. Amber is constantly playing or play-fighting with the other two kittens in his foster home. He loves to be loved on, but not for long -- after all, he has all sorts of important things to do. He’s about 10 weeks old, as of October 22.

Jade - ADOPTION PENDING!

An adorable gray-and-white tabby kitten, Jade is playful and energetic. She is constantly on the move, playing with toys, exploring, or fighting with the other two kittens in her foster home. Then, worn out by her activities, she plops down and takes a nap. She loves to be loved on, but not for long -- she has to get down because she has important things to do. She’s about 10 weeks old, as of October 22.

Onyx - ADOPTION PENDING!

A SARG volunteer found Onyx, who had been abandoned by her mother. A SARG foster bottle-fed her until she could eat solid food. Her first furry friend was Ralphie, a Cavalier KIng Charles Spaniel. She’s a fearless kitten who rules the 17-pound, ginger male kitty in her foster home. As of October 22, she’s about 9 weeks old. She spends her day running, jumping, playing, or sleeping. She loves to be loved on, but not for long -- she has to get down because she has important things to do. She can sit on her hind legs like a meerkat.

Boo Boo - ADOPTED!

Hi. I’m Boo Boo -- my foster family calls me Boo Boo Boots because when I arrived at their home I needed to be shaved. I was very matted, and now it looks like I am wearing Ugg boots! I really like my haircut. My skin feels so much better! I am actually a very long-haired tuxedo, Maine coon-mix kitty about 8 years old. I have a great ruff of fur and a fluffy tail. My whiskers are super long and they are always tickling my foster mom. Heehee. I love cuddles and pets, and chin scritches. Toys are a fun part of my day. I enjoy the laser pointer -- I can’t seem to catch that red dot! Sometimes I’m sure I get it, but when I look at my paws it’s not there! Maybe you can help me catch it? I have two foster brothers and they are both great. We all get along together. I’ve never had an accident outside of the litter box either. I’m a very tidy kitty. My last mom passed away and I’m now looking for someone I can cuddle at night and follow around all day long. My foster mom calls me her little shadow. I enjoy people and don’t know a stranger. Maybe you are looking for someone like me? Here’s a little video of me cuddling with my foster mom.

Blue - ADOPTED!

Meet Blue, an adorable kitten around 10-12 weeks old looking for his forever home. Rescued from a car engine, Blue has a stunning grayish-blue coat and a playful, mischievous personality that's sure to brighten your days. He's also incredibly sweet and loving.

Don't miss the chance to make this charming kitten a part of your family!

Priscilla - ADOPTED!

Hello! My name is Priscilla. I am a gorgeous female, calico and part Maine coon cat. I am about 3 years old and on the small side — I weigh just 7 pounds. We are looking for my new "million-dollar owner" because I am a very special and loving cat. I love to cuddle and be with you in every room. I give kisses and hugs, and there are not enough ways to cuddle up around or on you! I love affection and have lots of love to give. I love sitting in boxes and bags, chasing the yarn mice, and sitting on the window sills and looking outside. I have lived in a home with 2 male cats, a dog, and kids. I might like to live in a home with a friendly dog. I think I would do well with a family, a couple, or person that gives me lots of attention. My foster mom has fostered other kitties before, but she says I have been her absolute favorite. Would you like to meet me? I would like to meet you!

Cookie’s Step-family - ADOPTED!

These four kittens' mom was unable to care for them after birth. Fortunately, we were able to find a surrogate nursing mother cat that took them in and cared for them until they were 4 1/2 weeks old. Her name is Cookie, and they are named for cookie ingredients in her honor. These kittens are very well socialized. They have been handled daily since birth, due to the need for supplemental feeding until Cookie could take over. All of them love being held, purr constantly, are litter-box trained, and are playful and inquisitive. They have all had their first vaccination and deworming. And they are all-around wonderful little kittens!

Could you be the one to love and share your home with one or more? Start with filling out an application to Identify who that is! Their foster will contact you to answer additional questions.

As of June 1, they are 6 1/2 weeks old. There are 2 males: Butters and Pumpkin, and two females: Spice and Ginger

NOTE: The video was taken May 7, when they were 3 weeks old.

Ginger - ADOPTED!

Meet Ginger, a gorgeous, rare, cream-colored tabby. Her birthday is April 16, 2024. As of July 9th, she is 12 weeks old and current on vaccinations. She will be spayed once she is old enough. Ginger can be a little shy when you first walk into the room, but she is quick to come around and become your best friend. She loves snuggling and can really get her motor running. She would thrive in a home with other pets. If you are looking for two kittens, you should also check out her sister, Spice. Ginger loves kids of all ages and small spaces like baskets and boxes.

Spice - ADOPTED!

This is Spice. She is an orange tabby with fabulous swirl markings. Her birthday is April 16, 2024. As of July 9th, she is 12 weeks old and current on vaccinations. She will be spayed once she is old enough. Spice is a playful, adventurous, and fun-loving girl. She is very active, loves playing with lots of toys and with her sister Ginger. Don't be fooled by her playfulness--she is also very loving and cuddly. She would do well with other pets and kids of all ages.

Madeline - ADOPTED!

Meet Madeline—a beautiful, loving lap kitty. According to the staff at UT, Madeline is about four years old. This little girl weighs about six pounds, and is a long-haired Siamese—also called a Balinese.

When Madeline’s owner passed away, she was turned in to the shelter. The staff there realized she had some vision issues. When SARG got her, we took her to UT to be examined by the head ophthalmologist on staff there. Dr. Ward diagnosed her with Progressive Retinal Atrophy, a genetic condition. She has probably been blind for most of her life. Siamese is one of the breeds where it often occurs.

Although Madeline is blind, she doesn’t let that stop her. She learns a new environment quickly, and the process is fun to watch. She locates the edge of the room, and walks the perimeter, noting any items in her way. A couple of trips, and she knows the area. Litter box—check. Food bowl—check. Water bowl—check. Chair and table legs—check. She’s more than capable of checking and functioning in a whole house.

When she is done investigating and playing, Madeline loves a lap—this lovable little girl is a true lap cat—a true loves-people kitty. When we have taken her out to events, she truly enjoys the attention of strangers. In her foster home, Madeline is fine with the other cats—she responds according to how they treat her. Hiss? Madeline can hiss back with the best of them. Leave her alone? Madeline ignores them.

We feel Madeline would do best in a home where someone is home much of the time, just for her safety—perhaps where someone works from home.

George -ADOPTED!

My name is George, and I am the last of my litter to find my forever home. As they say, saving the best for the last, right? I absolutely love to run, play, and explore. I want to see everything and do everything, but lately I found something I love to do even more: cuddle. Those who know me well call me a little cuddle bug. After my adventures, I love to curl up in a warm lap all cute and snuggly. There is a foster dog in the house; her name is Victoria, and she's my play buddy. She loves to play hide and seek with me and roughhouse.

My foster family has been clipping my nails since I was 3 1/2 weeks old, so I'm a pro at it. I'm great with using scratching posts and cardboard scratchers. All of my shots are updated and I've been neutered and microchipped, so I'm ready to go. Come meet me and I'll steal your heart. It won't take you long to realize I'm the purrrrfect package!
