Rudy

High energy and a connoisseur of snuggles, Rudolph "Rudy" is a 3-4 year old, special-needs, epileptic beagle who’s the best of both worlds. This little guy simultaneously has the energy and stamina to keep up with you during exercise, while also having a PhD in advanced napping. His favorite things are running at the dog park, hanging out with you in the kitchen, and cuddling up with his family for bedtime.

- Medical History: Vaccinated, neutered, on monthly worm preventatives, and recently had dental cleaning/work done. Has medication-resistant epilepsy. Rudy is on two daily medications (Phenobarbital and Potassium Bromide) to combat his monthly cluster seizures, but because he is resistant he may never stop having them. He requires frequent vet visits to check his blood because of the Phenobarbital. Phenobarbital is a diuretic (pees more).

- Temperament: Rudy is friendly to all people and pets, including adults, children, other dogs, and cats. He has no natural aggression and only snaps from dogs jumping on top of him. He can be picked up and carried. He loves to snuggle with people and dogs, and he is not very interested in playing with regular dog toys, only treat toys. However, he loves being around people and animals, even if he isn't very playful!

- Behavior: Though friendly, he is high-maintenance and has a few behavioral problems that require an experienced owner. He is extremely high energy, has a lot to say, as all hounds do, has not taken to potty training, and cannot be left alone in a room for very long. He sleeps in a crate at night 85% of the time, but he doesn't always enjoy the crate and will bark to sleep in bed with his family instead. He knows how to sit, shake, lie down, speak, and wait (sit quietly), but only obeys half the time. He does not take “no” for an answer if smells or food are involved, so make sure you are ready for a challenge when it comes to training!

Rudy has some specific needs, such as exercise and medication for managing his epilepsy, but with some extra care, this handsome devil can be your new best friend. If you'd like to give a special-needs dog a good home, please reach out at rainbowthread@gmail.com or fill out this interest form: https://forms.gle/hRvPCeLpSzmwvwQNA

Georgia

Update Feb. 7, 2024: Georgia is in a new foster home and has lost weight. She looks so gorgeous!! We still have not had her around cats or small children, but we do believe she would be o.k. in a home with a friendly canine companion.

Georgia's owner recently passed away, and now she needs to find her new forever home. She is a very loyal companion who was by her owner's side until the end. Georgia appears to be a purebred German shepherd; she is about 6 years old, house-trained, spayed, and current on vaccines. She had a 3-year-rabies vaccine in 2022, so it is good until 2025. She has lived with another dog before, and we think she could get along with an older or mellow dog. We do not know whether or not she has been around cats or children. Please help find this precious girl her new forever home! Call Debbie at 865-321-0544. [Updated 2/7/2024]

Oreo

He's just an all around good boy! He is bursting with energy and eagerness to learn. While he loves his walks, he's putting the finishing touches on his leash manners. He loves car rides (even to the vet's office) and really enjoys his play sessions. Oreo craves affection and is searching for his perfect match who will love him and give him a spot in the family. Could that be you? 🐶💕 Neutered and vaccinated, Oreo is all set to be your loyal companion. Let's make Oreo's dream come true and give him the chance he deserves - his forever family! If you would like to adopt Oreo, please call 865-315-2989 or email charice.johnson@gmail.com. [Posted 9/4/2024]

Punky

Punky is a 13-week-old female, about-to-be-spayed kitten. As her name implies, she is full of spunk! Punky loves to play and is good with other cats but still wary of dogs. She will be getting spayed next week and finishing up her vaccines for 1 year. She will also be microchipped. Punky is looking for her forever indoor home with a playmate or two. This little girl is quite healthy and negative for feline leukemia and FIV, and she has been fully dewormed and is current on flea and heartworm prevention. She is living with Cinnamon currently, and they can also be adopted as a pair. See his bio as well. They are both wonderful cats! Please email critterdoc09@gmail.com if you can give Punky and/or Cinnamon a loving, forever home. [Posted 8/19/2024]

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a 2-to-3-year-old, neutered male, dilute orange tabby. He is a bigger boy at 11 pounds lean. He has finished updating all his vet care and tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV and had vaccines updated. He is current on flea/heartworm prevention and in-process of finishing deworming. Cinnamon is good with other cats and is not an aggressor at all. For a former outdoor tomcat, he has good litter box habits and is totally fine with being scooped up to be held. He is very docile and affectionate. He has a great purr! This boy is very talkative with a lilt that reminds me of a Siamese as well as his more angular face. Available for immediate adoption as an indoor cat. If you are looking for a sweet boy to add to your house, this is your guy! Please email critterdoc09@gmail.com. [Posted 7/29/2024]

Radar

Radar is 7 months old as of 7/23/2024. He is neutered, heartworm-negative, up to date on vaccinations, and housetrained. He is a rat terrier who looks like the photos of a Majorca ratter. One look at his ears will tell you where he got his name! Radar's foster home is located in Concord, NC.

This good boy is very smart and very loving. He knows how to sit and stay. He likes to shake paws, play fetch, play ball, dig in the dirt, and run! He loves the water and loves to play in the water hose. He also likes to watch animals on TV! He likes his harness on when he goes for a ride-- it seems to make him feel more secure. As he is still a puppy, he tends to chew through his leashes, so a metal leash works best. Radar is afraid of paper bags and loud noises inside, but he's not afraid of thunder or firecrackers outside. He is of a type that is bred to hunt mice and rats, and consequently he has a high prey drive and can't be trusted around small animals.

Since he was rescued, Radar has not been tested in very many situations with people and other animals. He likes to play ball with some neighbor kids, but he has not been around small children. He behaved well at the vet's office where there were people and other animals. His current foster home is not active enough to give him the exercise, training, and socialization he should have. He needs an active family to give him some training and lots of play time. He is so smart that he might be able to train as a service dog.

The bottom line is that Radar is a really good, young dog who needs a best friend and a loving and active forever home. He is also a gorgeous dog whose photos do not do him justice, with his sleek coat and beautiful reddish-brown highlights.

Please text Loni at 865-282-7846 or email uneekseven@gmail.com if you want to meet Radar and give him the good life he deserves. [Posted 7/23/2024]

Thin Mint

Thin Mint is a 10-month-old male neutered boy tuxedo. He came from an outside feral litter. He is sweet, but the rest of his litter wasn't as friendly. He loves other cats and is very social. He doesn't love being picked up, but it doesn't freak him out. He is a very handsome and more petite boy. He can be adopted solo if other cats in the house or with Skittles or Sweet Tart. Thin Mint is fully vaccinated as an indoor cat, neutered, tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV, and up to date on flea/heartworm prevention. Please email critterdoc09@gmail.com for more information. [Posted 1/12/2024]

Chanel

Hi, Everyone! My name is Chanel, and I’m a full-blooded blue nose pit bull. I am spayed, and I’m 7 years old. I get along with other dogs and all humans, too. I’m great around babies and toddlers. I am housetrained, and I weigh about 42 pounds. I had an accident that has made my back legs not able to work any more, but that hasn’t stopped me from being my full-of-energy self, nor from getting around. I would love to find my new forever home with someone who has the time for me and has a back yard I can wheel around in.

Please call or text Holly at 865-201-9778 if you can give me that loving home.

Tank

Say hello to Tank! Tank is a male and he is estimated to be between 6-7 months old. Tank has had the following vaccines: rabies, distemper and kennel cough. Tank is neutered. Tank will make a great family dog! He is so sweet and playful, but more on the lazy side compared with his siblings. He can be shy at first, but warms up quickly! He would do best in a home with a fence, or a home with property. Tank has a pretty clear understanding of a crate and going potty outside. Please contact Kelly at riversidek9llc@gmail.com for an application and more information. [Posted 10/26/2023]

Little Red

Buddy

"Hey everyone! My name is Buddy! I'm a very distinguished gentleman who loves being coddled. I don't know a bad person, but I'm not a fan of other animals. They annoy me and always get in my bubble!

I'm old and don't have a lot of history behind me, and I've been passed around a lot. I don't understand why... I go out of my way to be the goodest boy, yet here I am. I'm very quiet, I don't demand walks, I don't run away! In fact, I prefer being by my hooman and lounging around. I had recently found a family that seemed to love me, and I was really happy and relieved! However, my hooman became very frail and sick and started talking about having to put me in the pound! A friend of my hooman took me in to prevent me from going to that pound, and I thank her every day with my snorty kisses!

I'm a very healthy 73-pound boy with some allergies and arthritis.... remember, I am old! My foster momma said I will go to my forever home with all the basics! A crate (which I don't need!), a bed, bowls and toys and a sweater... oh! And a huge bag of food! I would prefer a home with a big sunny yard, and I want to be the only furbaby! I do tolerate my current siblings, but that's only cause my foster momma is a firm woman that watches us like a hawk. She says all the time, "You have manners, use em!" 🙄 I do like to chew on things when I'm bored, but I won't chew on your things as long as you buy me lots of chew toys! ;)

Won't you take me home? I'm in my golden years and I wanna settle in my furever home. I'll show you love like you've never known! I may not know a lot of cool tricks, but I know sit, and leave it, and wait! If you want to know more about me, don't be afraid to reach out to my foster momma! She can answer everything!"

Buddy’s foster mom says: I don't want any money for the things going with Buddy, all I want is for him to be happy! I'm already in love with him and I know he will make someone very happy! I will be asking for a rehoming fee, which I plan to donate to SARG. I can't always answer my phone, but I always respond to texts when I'm available and I watch my emails constantly! Please reach out to me about Buddy anytime! My number is 865-202-7667 and my email is Illingworthlily@gmail.com. [Posted 7/22/2023]

NIA

Nia is a gorgeous, high-energy chow/husky mix. She loves to hike and be outside! She has a very high prey drive and will dig out of a fence at times if there is incentive (prey). She does fine with not going over a fence and so far has done very well with a woven wire fence. Nia appears housebroken and crate trained, but she is not trustworthy with cats. Nia would do best in a home with no small children/younger children, a fenced back yard, an active experienced owner, no other female dogs, likely no cats, and maybe a male dog friend. Nia gets along with two boy dogs in her foster home, but not with the largest male dog, and definitely not with the female dog in the house. Nia's history is unknown as she was a stray. However, Nia is very slow to trust men. She warms up pretty quickly to most women.

Nia already knows: sit, down, wait, drop it and leave it. She is very smart! She leash walks with a martingale collar and can easily hike up to 4 or more miles. She also loves squeaky toys and will toss them up to play. True to breed, Nia has a double coat and will shed out. She does well with brushing though and also loves belly rubs.

Nia is about 5 yrs old, up to date on vaccines, spayed, and current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Please email critterdoc09@gmail.com if you are interested in meeting Nia. [Updated 4/19/2023]

Brownie loves everyone and gets along great with other dogs and just wants to be in someone's lap getting pets and belly rubs. He will even sleep on your pillow with you if you like! He is a very special dog and would do well in any family, but is not fond of cats. Hank - ADOPTED!

Meet Hank! Hank is 4 years old. He weighs 42 pounds. He loves attention and loves to play. He is very gentle and wants all your love! He loves everyone he meets and is good with kids! He is very vocal to other dogs when in a new setting. but he has been excellent around all girl dogs and neutered male dogs. He is crate-trained and potty-trained. He loves the outdoors, but he also loves the couch. He has a cute little underbite and is genuinely such a gentle dog. Hank has been through a lot the past few months; he went through heartworm treatment recently, but he is doing great. He acts like it never affected him. He is by far the strongest dog I have witnessed. He will need to be on a heartworm preventative for the rest of his life. I can’t wait for you to meet him and to see how much of a good boy he is! To meet Hank, call 423-557-5823 or email keyara.steinmetz3@gmail.com. [Posted 11/6/2023]

Cole and Bennett — ADOPTED!

Anderson County Animal Rescue Foundation (AC ARF)  https://www.acanimalrescuefoundation.org is looking for a family for Bennett and Cole, two 10-12 month-old husky mix breed pups.  These pups have come a long way since they came into rescue…they have learned much, and we have learned much about them.  They were abandoned at a church in Oliver Springs when they were around 5-6 months old.  They found shelter under a nearby house of an elderly couple who cared enough to feed them and who reached out to AC ARF.  They are a very bonded pair, so we would love for them to be adopted together.

These dogs are both very dog (and cat!)  friendly, and would do best living with another dog or dogs providing some guidance.  But, as long as they are together, they would be fine by themselves! They are neutered and up to date on preventives and vaccines, microchipped, housetrained, and are calm, easygoing, attentive dogs.  They are still a little shy, but are beginning to learn they can trust people…even little ones!  Cole is black and tan and Bennett is tan with one blue eye and one brown eyeNeed Their Forever Home. They are both gorgeous, and currently weigh around 50 lbs each. Their adoption fee is $75.  Even though there are two dogs, they are very low maintenance and pretty much act like only one dog!

Both pups are very smart and very dog social, and love to play with each other and other dogs (especially when they visit the dog park) and they love their food and treats.   Another local non-profit, Down and Dirty Dogs, Inc. (https://www.facebook.com/downanddirtydogs) is an East TN grass-roots non-profit that aims to improve the quality of life and adoptability of rescue dogs.  They are a great organization who have also been working with Bennett and Cole to help improve their confidence and increase their trust in people!

In April, Bennett and Cole participated in a board and train program at Meadowbrooke Kennels in Knoxville https://www.facebook.com/meadowbrookekennel where they received foundational training…learning essential commands, basic manners, socialization, as well as getting exercise.  They are now stellar at walking on a leash, and have exquisite manners to boot! In addition, these smart and playful boys come with a year of free training support from Meadowbrooke for their adopter!

Cole and Bennett are now eager to find their forever home. They are both currently being boarded at Little Lake Pet Lodge https://littlelakepetlodge.com until we can find their forever home. They are shy, healthy, smart, food-motivated, and friendly to other dogs.  They are ready to learn what it is like to live in a warm home with love and affection.   Having their own family would provide a sense of belonging to these pups so they can really blossom.  They certainly deserve that chance!! They are very special dogs.

For more information or arrange to meet, reach out to ACARF by messaging the ACARF Facebook page, emailing ACARF2018@gmail.com, or texting/calling Katrina at 865-414-2491. [Posted 6/26/2024]

Grimmy — ADOPTED!

Grimmy is seeking a family of his own. This beautiful boy is just 18 months old, and weighs around 50 pounds. He is very sweet and has been learning how to be a real part of a family and is doing so well at it! Grimmy tries so hard to please because he loves that family life! He is good with cats and especially loves kids - he even sleeps with his foster mom's 3-year-old -- they are the best of friends! Grimmy likes to play and needs plenty of exercise, but he is also happy and knows when it's time to chill out and hang out. Grimmy is potty trained, up to date on vaccines, neutered, and ready to find his permanent, forever family. If you would like to meet Grimmy, please send an email to charice.johnson@gmail.com or give me a call at 865-315-2989. [Posted 6/20/2024]

Sweet Tart - ADOPTED!

Sweet Tart is a 4-month-old male neutered orange tabby that is growing like a weed! He is littermate to Skittles and half brother to Thin Mint. He came indoors in November from an outdoor feral litter. He is the most shy of his litter. Once he is picked up, he is fine with petting and being held, but is more apt to hide if startled. He loves to play with his roommates and will do best in a quiet house with other cats. He can be adopted with a littermate as well. Within the next week, Sweet Tart will be fully vaccinated as an indoor cat. He is already neutered, tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV and up to date on flea/heartworm prevention. Please email critterdoc09@gmail.com for more information. [Posted 1/12/2024]

Kenton - ADOPTED!

Meet a sweet little puppy named Kenton who beat the odds. This little girl was severely neglected by her owners and was brought to her local shelter as a very sick baby. Kenton had a severe case of demodectic mange and lost nearly all of her fur. She had one "cherry eye," a double ear infection, and was malnourished and underweight. Nobody came to adopt her at the shelter; her time was up, and she was scheduled for euthanization when we got word that she needed to be rescued right away. It was a miracle. Kenton has been treated and has fully recovered. Check out her transformation in the before and after pictures! She's a beauty, and talk about sweet! Kenton is about as sweet and loving as they come and gives the softest little puppy kisses. Kenton is now 6 months old, potty trained, walks great on a leash, and is soaking up all the love she can. She's a smart girl who tries hard to please her people and will do anything for a treat. She's a healthy and happy girl these days and is looking for her very own family. Kenton is spayed and vaccinated, so she is totally ready to go home. If you would like to take Kenton home and make her part of your family, please give me a call at 865-315-2989 or email me at charice.johnson@gmail.com. [Posted 7/16/2024]

Cleo - ADOPTED!

This little girl was left alone by her owner in a hot apartment, with family stopping by every so often to feed her. She was alone and frightened of everything. I have finally started earning her trust and seeing her quirky little personality coming out. She is friendly, gentle, and healthy; she just wants love, care, and to be brushed (which is her favorite thing). Cleo has been through a lot and would thrive and become more social in a calm home. She loves birdwatching, sunbathing, if possible, and playing hide 'n seek (She is a very good hider.); and I’m starting to think she would be a pretty good mouser. She’s about 1 year old. I believe she would do best without other animals, only because I’ve never seen her with others. She might do ok if introduced slowly. She would probably prefer a home with older children only. Cleo is scheduled to be spayed on 7/17/2024, and she should be ready for her new home within a week or so afterward. [Posted 7/10/2024]
